Authentic Enchilada Sauce  (No Tomato)

You just need a handful of ingredients and about 15 minutes to make this homemade sauce!

– frozen raw shrimp – oil spray – kosher salt to taste – fresh cracked pepper – Any preferred additional seasoning

Ingredients you will need:

HOW TO MAKE  Enchilada Sauce:

– In a bowl, mix chile powder and water together until well combined. – Using a medium sauce pan, heat oil over medium heat. Add onion and garlic and cook until soft and translucent.

HOW TO MAKE  Enchilada Sauce:

– Sprinkle oregano, cumin, and flour into pan and cook for about 3 minutes, stirring constantly. Mixture should bubble but not burn.

HOW TO MAKE  Enchilada Sauce:

– Remove from heat and pour chile mixture into the pan and use a whisk to stir it into the flour mixture until smooth. Return pan to medium heat & just as the sauce starts to bubble, reduce heat to a low simmer. Stir occasionally.

HOW TO MAKE  Enchilada Sauce:

– Remove from heat and use when needed. Cool completely before storing.
