These air fryer hash browns are a snap to make. Whether you like the restaurant style shredded potatoes, or you prefer crispy fast food style patties, you'll love how easy and quick these cook up. Breakfast has never been this good!

For those who are unfamiliar with air frying, it's a quick and easy way to cook food using hot air instead of oil. This method produces a golden-brown crust on the outside while keeping the inside moist and fluffy.
Why this recipe works
Super easy - these air fryer hash browns could not be easier to make! Just a few simple steps and you'll have delicious, crispy hash browns in no time. These hash browns are entirely cooked through and ready to eat within 10-25 minutes!
Delicious - the combination of crispy potatoes with salt and pepper is absolutely delicious! Comfort food everyone loves.
Less grease - these hash browns are made with oil, but there is no deep-frying involved! You can control how much fat you would like to use (or not use), and the end result is perfectly crispy without extra grease.
Kid-friendly - kids love crispy, crunchy potatoes! If your kids are looking for a side to go with their breakfast, these air fryer hash browns can make their day!
Easy clean-up - the best part about this recipe is that there is minimal clean-up involved. You can use cooking spray to eliminate any leftover stuck-on food particles in your air fryer. And you can throw your air fryer parts in the dishwasher when finished!
Versatile - serve the air fried hash browns as a side dish for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. You can even have them for a snack. Why not?
Ingredients
Hash Browns - I used a package of shredded frozen hash browns, frozen hash brown patties, and a package of Simply Potatoes refrigerated, shredded potatoes.
Cooking spray/oil - oil is optional if you're trying to cut down on fat and calories, however cooking spray will help keep the hash browns from drying out too much.
I do like to use oil for added flavor and texture. Mild flavored oils with a high smoke point work best, such as avocado oil, corn oil, vegetable oil, and canola oil are a few examples.
How to make air fryer hash browns
For Frozen Shredded Hash Browns:
Step One: Preheat the air fryer to 370 F. Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Pour the package of hash browns into the air fryer basket and spray the top of the hash browns with cooking spray. Spread evenly in the basket.
Step Two: Air fry for about 20-25 minutes or until thoroughly cooked through and browned and crisp. Stop halfway through the cooking time to spray the top of hash browns and season with salt.
For Fresh/Refrigerated Shredded Hash browns:
Step One: Preheat the air fryer to 370 F. Pour the package of potatoes into a bowl. Pour oil all over potatoes mix to combine well. Season with one teaspoon kosher salt and other spices like paprika, cayenne, or garlic powder, if desired.
Step Two: Spray air fryer basket with cooking spray. Pour potatoes into the basket and spread evenly. Spray with cooking spray and air fry 12-20 minutes or until crisp and hot. Check potatoes at the halfway point and add salt and pepper.
For Frozen Patties:
Step One: Preheat the air fryer to 400 F. Spray basket with cooking spray. Place patties in the basket in an even layer without overlapping.
Step Two: Air fry for 10-12 minutes, flipping halfway through. Patties should be crisp and golden brown. Add more time until desired crispiness is reached.

You can freeze leftover hash browns in a freezer storage zip top bag or other air tight container for about 3 months.
