Ingredients
See recipe card below for precise amounts.
Crescent roll dough - we use Pillsbury brand for this recipe, but you can use store brand if you prefer. The dough is similar to puff pastry, which you can use as a substitute. One tube has eight rolls and each will be cut into thirds for a total of 24.
Smoked cocktail sausages - we used Hillshire Farm LIt'l Smokies, but there are endless brands to choose from. A 14 ounce package has between 30 and 36 franks. So if you do the math, you'll have a few left over. Hot dogs are also a great substitution. Cut them into thirds and use just as you would the mini sausages.
Everything bagel seasoning - this is totally optional, but sometimes I like to make 12 classic and 12 with bagel seasoning. The seasoning is made up of black and white sesame seeds, poppy seeds, minced dried garlic, minced dried onions, and salt flakes.
Dipping Sauces - be sure you have your favorite dipping sauces ready to go to complete the snack. Try my Buttermilk Ranch, Hot Honey Sauce, Cajun Sauce, and my Homemade BBQ Sauce!
Instructions
- Pop open a tube of crescent dough and unroll onto a cutting board.
- Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut along the precut lines to separate the crescents. You should have 8 total.
- Cut one crescent into three equal sized strips.
- Place a sausage at the wider part of the strip and roll it up. Repeat the process until the desired amount is made.
- Sprinkle some with bagel seasoning, if using.
- Preheat the air fryer to 350 degrees F for three minutes.
- Place crescent dogs in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Leave some space between them to allow the hot air to circulate and give the dough room to rise.
- Air fry for 5-6 minutes at 350 degrees F, or until sausages are hot and pastry is golden brown. I don't flip mine over because I like to keep the tops fluffy.
- If more cooking time is needed, increase time in short 30 second increments to prevent over browning.
- Reduce temperature to 330 degrees F (or lower) if you notice that the pastry is browning too quickly. Add more cook time if needed.
Tips & Variations
Dipping Sauces: Serve with ketchup, mustard, honey mustard, or cheese sauce
Cheesy Delight: Add a small slice of cheddar inside each roll before wrapping.
Seasoned Tops: Brush with melted butter and sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds before air frying.
Spicy Kick: Use jalapeño sausages or add a dash of hot sauce inside the wrap.
Storage & Reheating
Reheating: Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 2-3 minutes or until warmed through.
Storage: Place leftovers in an airtight container and refrigerate for up to 3 days.
