Looking for some fun drink recipes for your next party? Give this cherry bomb shot recipe a try! This shooter is the perfect way to break the ice so guests start mingling and get into the partying mood.

This cherry bomb shot has summer written all over it. And with summer comes loads of opportunities to gather with friends and family for some of the best backyard cookouts.

Speaking of summer parties, why not make these for the Fourth of July? The bright red cherries will look great with this red, white and blue dessert.

Bar tools needed

  • Pint glass or a tall glass
  • Shot glass that can hold 1.5 ounces
  • Jigger or measuring cup with fluid ounces marked

Ingredients

Energy soda - I used a Red Bull energy drink. I used the original version, but you can try sugar-free or even some of their other new flavors like Juneberry or Dragon Fruit. If you don't want the extra kick from the Red Bull, try some ginger ale, lemon-lime soda such as Sprite. Another option is to use a hard seltzer like High Noon or White Claw.

Vodka - you'll want to use what you have on hand, a favorite brand, or one of my favorites like Ketel One, Grey Goose, or Titos. Another great option is to use a shot of cherry vodka as a substitute.

Grenadine - grenadine is a delicious cherry syrup that adds some sweetness to your shooter. It is non-alcoholic. If you want to add cherry flavor with some alcohol, try some cherry schnapps, or a cherry liqueur like Dr. McGillicuddy.

Maraschino cherries - I love using the bright red maraschino cherries for that pop of color. These are easy to find at any grocery store. You might want to try a specialty variety, but they are a bit pricey.

Tips

  • One can of Red Bull is 8.4 ounces so if you are making these at a party, be sure to have plenty of cans on hand.
  • Be sure your energy drinks or mixer drinks are well chilled for the best flavor.
  • Try an orange liqueur like Grand Marnier in place of grenadine.
  • Be sure the rim of the shot glass falls below the Red Bull level in order to get the fizzy effect.
  • Don't like Red Bull? Try sparkling cranberry juice instead.
